ED’S VISION FOR TAMPA
MOVING BEYOND CONGESTION
We need a strong urban mobility system that doesn’t require cars to get from home to work or play and that we can grow on. We can move beyond congestion by deploying new transit technologies on existing public streets and highways, on existing freight rail corridors, and on our waterways.
A PROSPEROUS CITY
Tampa needs robust business districts and fresh approaches to rebuilding our older commercial corridors, all supported by new and emerging transit options. Affordable housing, homeownership opportunities and better, higher quality apartment housing are essential to our future.
LEADING IN INNOVATION
AN EMPOWERED ECONOMY
We must create a civic and economic environment that has innovation at its heart, in which it is easy for people to invest in themselves and their businesses. We should be one of the best places in America where good ideas and the people behind them can succeed.
DOING BASICS WELL
A BETTER, SAFER CITY
Doing fundamentals well and with fiscal prudence is the foundation for a prosperous city. We can make our neighborhoods stronger and safer, and our storm water systems and city infrastructure better through a more inventive, flexible, and efficient city government.
PROMOTING A DIVERSE COMMUNITY
OPPORTUNITY AND FAIRNESS FOR ALL
Tampa needs to support the economic mobility of all of its citizens by removing barriers to progress that encumber too many. It means better housing, better transit, better schools–helping minority businesses and entrepreneurs succeed–and ensuring that our justice system is fair and even-handed.
